| The Adventures in Diving program offers both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. If you complete any three Adventure dives from our list of SCUBA Diving below, you can earn your PADI Adventure certification. If you complete your Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure and three additional Dives for a total of five, you can earn your Advanced Open Water Diver certification as well! We can teach you SCUBA diving with full guidance along the way!

Why should I gain certification as a PADI Advanced Open Water?
After your five dives and theory lesson, you'll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply enjoy diving more because you'll better understand the underwater environment and the gear and equipment required for safe diving practices.
What do I need to start this Advanced Course at Essex School of Diving?
The Course Pre-requirements are that you should have a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization), and that you should be a minimum age of 15 years (although 12 years as a PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver).
What dives will I do while on my Advanced course?
This certification requires that you complete in total five Adventure Dives, including the Deep and Underwater Navigator dives plus choose three of the following:
• Dry Suit Diver
• Dive Propulsion Vehicle
• Multilevel Diver
• Peak Performance Buoyancy
• Search and Recovery
• Underwater Naturalist
• Underwater Videographer
• Underwater Photography
• Project AWARE Fish Identification
• Wreck Diver
How long will the Advanced SCUBA diving course take?
It varies from person to person as we like to teach at a pace comfortable for each individual student, however we recommended the dive theory and knowledge developments take approximately 15 hours to complete. The minimum Open Water SCUBA training part of the course is five dives over two days. These dives are conducted at our local UK diving locations, although we are always looking for available dive sites here in Essex.
What will I need to complete the Advanced Diver SCUBA Certificate from PADI?
Course materials consist of the Adventures in Diving Crew-Pak which contains a comprehensive manual, Adventures in Diving DVD or Video which is an excellent and very relaxed way of learning. A Log Book (your logbook from your Open Water course will be fine) will also be required so you can keep recording your diving history, and will be personally stamped by your Instructor after each dive, you will also have to sign your PADI Instructor's Logbook too!
These course materials are supplied to you direct and are included in your course costs.
Where can I go from here once I have completed this Advanced SCUBA Diving Course?
PADI Advanced Open Water Divers at least 15 years of age can enroll in PADI Wreck or Deep Diver Specialty course and continue on to the PADI Rescue Diver or Junior Rescue Diver course. Here at Essex School of Diving in Essex our aim is to get you to be a confident and safety conscious diver from the start.
